The Floating Market Outside Bangkok

Our first two full days in Thailand have been so full, it's hard to know what to write about. I am actually writing this post as we travel on the bus from the train station in Lampang to Chaing Mai at 5:30 AM.  More on the overnight train in a later post, because it was a HOOT!

We started our day on Sunday with going to the Floating Market 66 miles southeast of Bangkok, located in the Charajburi Province. What a fantastic experience this was. We boarded another long tail boat and sped through miles of man made canals to get to the Floating Market. The Bangkok area has 600 kilometers of canals and is known as the "Venice of the East."

We sped by homes on the river's edge until we approached the marketplace. I love lookin at these homes and wondering about their lifestyles and what it's all like for these families. When we got out of the boat to see the walking part of the marketplace, I was met by two adorable Thai children who were relentlessly trying to sell their wares to me. There were countless vendors there.

I loved seeing the floating vendors. We sampled some delicious fruits that I've never seen or tasted before.
